The 69th Judicial District Judge presides over all felony cases in Dallam, Hartley, Moore and Sherman counties. Also, the district judge has exclusive jurisdiction over all civil cases in these counties with an amount in controversy over $200,000.00, and concurrent jurisdiction with county courts over cases in which the amount in controversy is between $500.00 and $200,000.00. In addition, the district judge has jurisdiction over divorces and other family law matters, contested probates, and cases involving a dispute over title to land. The district judge selects and seats grand juries every six months.
